How to get to Buncom

Where is Buncom?

Buncom is located in Southern Oregon, about 20 miles southwest of Medfordz01-sign and Interstate 5. From Medford and Grants Pass, Buncom can be reached via State Highway 238. You can find Buncom on the official State of Oregon Department of Transportation high maps. The roads are paved all the way.

 From California and other points south:

Take I-5 north to the South Medford exit (Exit 27). Follow the signs to downtown Medford. Take Main Street west five miles to Jacksonville, then continue on Highway 238 another eight miles to Ruch. Turn left at Ramsay Realty where the signs direct you to Valley View Winery and Applegate Lake. Go three miles south on Upper Applegate til you reach Little Applegate Road. Turn left on Little Applegate and go three miles to the intersection of Sterling Creek Road. You’re at Buncom.

From Portland, OR, and other points north:

Take I-5 south to the North Grants Pass exit (Exit 58). Follow the signs to downtown Grants Pass and continue on 6th Street through downtown and across the Rogue River. Once across the river, follow the signs for Highway 238 and Murphy. Continue on Highway 238 for about 26 miles to Ruch. Turn right onto Upper Applegate Road at Ramsay Realty, where the signs point to Applegate Lake. Go three miles on Upper Applegate to Little Applegate Road. Turn left on Little Applegate and go three miles to the intersection of Sterling Creek Road. You’re at Buncom.

Caution: Do not trust your GPS or other electronic device to get you to Buncom. These new-fangled contraptions often lead visitors to snow-covered or otherwise impassable logging roads in the mountains — seriously.
