"The Song of the Little Applegate"

(In the late 1970s, the Little Applegate Valley was the scene of protests against extensive clear-cutting of the forests around it. Out of the protests grew this song about the valley in which Buncom is located, written by a prominent local artist and songwriter.  The forests were not clear-cut.)

Well, I know a place that you can go

Where the sun's always shining and there ain't much snow

It rains just enough to keep things green

It's the prettiest place you've ever seen.

 

Little Applegate we want to walk in your forests

We want to fish in your stream

We want to walk in your sunshine

Who can blame us for our dream?

We want to take a trip to Buncom

Walk along with old Gin Lin

We want to save you for our children

We want to share you with our friends.

 

Sit under the moon where coyotes howl

Have a little visit with the Spotted Owl,

Dusky woodrat and the old black bear

If you love them all you can see them there.
